THE PROJECT
Our client, a consultancy specializing in supporting women and providing educational services on the sensitive topic of female genital mutilation/cutting, sought a rebrand to signify their new level of growth. Their existing name, "Middelburg Human Rights Law & Consultancy," was perceived as harsh and unfriendly, prompting the need for a more inspiring identity. We proposed the name "Right to Rise," capturing the essence of the consultancy's mission while approaching the sensitive topic from an emotional and empowering perspective.

THE NEW BRAND VALUE PROPOSITION (A.K.A THE Sexy Beast).

This statement is the heart of the identity. We find it through thorough research into the business and the category, and use it to build the whole brand around it.

We are consultancy firm for women’s rights that specializes in gender-based violence, particularly Female Genital Mutilation/Cutting.  We aim to share knowledge and inspire others by creating positive change for girls and women worldwide. With our multidisciplinary approach, we help others understand these ever-evolving topics. We leverage legal academic insights, a vast network, and international field experience to provide broader perspectives and develop unique solutions that work on paper and in practice.

The brand persona is an essential aspects of the identity. It will set the ground for the visual identity, determine the content's tone, marketing efforts and even their service/product experience. It also makes the brand relatable and appealing to their target market.

OUR RATIONALE:

Women Empowered

The main goal of our design proposal was to convey the delicate balance between traits of the brand feeling:

Knowledge- wisdom, information, academia, rational
thinking, masculine energy.
Understanding- emotional intelligence, caring, connection,
unity, feminine essence.
It was also inspired on notions of transformation,
empowerment, and women rising together.

THE FORCE FROM WITHIN

We felt inspired to incorporate bold, uplifting, and empowering images and colors that originate from the same places as these women, serving as a reminder that their essence and roots are their brightest and most powerful assets.

VISUAL SYSTEM

Our moodboard encompasses earthy, grounded colors inspired by African textiles and arid landscapes. These warm tones evoke empathy, human connection, and kindness. Symbolic images subtly convey our brand identity, while modern interpretations of African wax prints add a playful touch. We aim to showcase women authentically, highlighting their inner strength and natural beauty amidst bold, contrasting imagery that captures their essence in their natural environments.

Combining several different aspects from our brand strategy and inspiration process, we came up with our new logo.

In this image, a simple line forms the outline of a woman's profile, blending Caucasian features with a mix of African and Arabic elements, symbolizing unity in diversity. Her confident gaze reflects empowerment and the demand for equality and self-expression. Viewed from afar, the figure resembles a continent on a map. Surrounding the logotype is an imperfect circle, signifying open-mindedness and evolution.


Our website was designed to embody the core of our brand and visual identity. It showcases empowering images in vibrant colors and incorporates text aligned with the concepts developed in our strategy. This approach assists our client in effectively communicating her services and vision with clarity and enthusiasm.
